Get out + Flow
There are so many gifts to be cultivated by the practice of yoga. If you're new to the practice, here are a few resources to help you incorporate yoga in to your life. Remember, yoga is not just becoming super bendy on a mat, it's about incorporating conscious breathing practices, a positive mindset, and empathy for yourself and those around you.
Get out there- There are sooooo many styles of yoga and yoga classes these days, it's amazing!! To me, that means I'll never get bored and there is always something to suit my mood or wellness goals. If you are near a yoga studio (who isn't, these days), give yourself the opportunity to try different classes and instructors. Most studios have special offers like a small amount of money for an unlimited week, etc. You will hopefully find a couple of styles and practices that speak to you.
Stay in - There are also so many amazing online resources for developing an at-home practice. In many cases, these videos are either free or cheaper than going to a studio. Plus, you can do them at home on your own timeline. Good resources I've heard of include Wanderlust TV, Black Swan Yoga, and of course, Youtube.
Read + Reflect - Yoga philosophy has so many sweet and wonderful things to teach us about daily life as well. Pick up any number of yoga books, or start with one of the originals, The Bhagavad Gita. Starting your yoga journey is also a perfect time to begin journaling if you don't already.
For further practice, consider joining a Yoga Teacher Training course or embarking on a yoga retreat. Often times these are offered on weekends/ nights/ or you can go and do one during an entire month in some cool location. Not everyone who completes a YTT is planning on teaching immediately, instead it's a beautiful way to dive inward, develop your practice, and yes, pick up a new skill. I will forever hold my YTT time as an extremely sacred and transformative time in my life.
Do you have any other resources to share? I'd love to hear!
