Analog Accountability
As much as I talk about #wellness, #exercise, #justdoit, I can make excuses as well as anyone. "I don't have time", "my schedule is so inconsistent", "I've been on the road so much", blah, blah, blah.
I know there are so many great apps out there to track your fitness, health, eating, all of that good stuff. But, sometimes, analog is the way to go! At the end of October, coming off of 3+ weeks of non-stop travel, I decided to print off an old-school calendar and use it to track my workouts. I find, sometimes, with apps that I just forget to use them, I use them for a few days, or never at all. Having the printed version, right at my desk, encouraged me to look at it daily and really helped motivate me to keep getting some consistent streaks of work outs. I also love the feeling of checking something off a list. So, to my surprise, I actually did really well this month! Go me! Ha!
I also loved seeing it visually because I could see how varied my workouts were -- I am definitely someone who can get burnt out with the same thing over and over, so I need to switch it up. This month I mixed it up with different yoga classes (bless heated yoga), Kayla Itsines' app (highly recommend), TRX, kickboxing, and I got back into my running swing (randomly ran 7 miles on Thanksgiving #humblebrag)!
So, moral of the story (speaking to myself mainly), stop making excuses. Get the heck out there and exercise for 30+ minutes most days. You will feel better. Your mind will be more clear. You'll be proud of what you can accomplish.
